All new and renewing London private hire drivers must pass TfL's Safety, Equality and Regulatory Understanding (SERU) assessment. It's computer-based, uses multiple-choice and fill-the-blank questions, and is based on the PHV Driver's Handbook. The official assessment costs £36 (£16 for a re-sit) and the pass mark is 60%.
